At a ceremony at the Mynydd Ednyfed hotel in Criccieth on the 31st july the Barbara Bus service in Gwynedd was officially launched. The ceremony was organised by Mr David Thomas who has volunteered to coordinate the service in Gwynedd. He is seen here on the left with Mrs Vera Sweeting the first user of the service.
Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas of the Welsh Assembly said how pleased the Welsh Assembly was to support the venture.
Mr Richard Holland, the Chairman of the Trustees spoke about the history and objectives of the fund. The Coordinator of the Barbara Bus service at Stanmore, Julia Pryor explained how the service worked and Mr John Jones one of the volunteer drivers gave a speech in both English and Welsh describing his experiences as a driver.
